MEDIA RELEASE - CONSENT AND AUTHORIZATION FOR STUDENTS OF THE TULARE COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
The Tulare County Office of Education, which includes the Tulare County Superintendent of
Schools and the Tulare County Board of Education (collectively referred to as “TCOE”), is
proud of its students and its educational programs. In addition, TCOE often takes and uses
photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and interviews of its students and program
participants for use in TCOE publications and broadcasts, as well as on its social media
platforms, and/or on its internet website or internal intranet. In addition, the accomplishments of
TCOE students and staff often draw the attention of newspapers, television stations, or other
media who visit our schools and program sites to photograph, videotape, audio record, and/or
interview students and staff.
As part of the TCOE educational program, TCOE or its designees may photograph, videotape,
audio record and/or interview (collectively referred to as “Recordings”) your student. In
addition, as part of your student’s education students may create or submit their own projects,
which may include digital images, writings, books, photographs, video recordings, audio
recordings, etc. (collectively referred to as “Student Works”).
TCOE must know whether you consent to TCOE, any of its designees, and/or the news media’s
publishing and/or sharing the Recordings and Student Works of your student with public and
private entities/individuals through a variety of mediums, including but not limited to online
platforms, social media, print and digital media, publications and broadcasts, including on
TCOE’s internet website or internal intranet.

(TCOE Consent and Authorization [Consent 1])
This Agreement provides consent for TCOE and/or designees to the use, publish, and
share the Recordings and Student Works of student named below (“Student”).
- CONSENT:
Parent and Student give consent that TCOE may, but is not
required to, publish, use, display, and/or broadcast Recordings and/or Student
Works of Student to public and private entities/individuals through a variety of
mediums, including but not limited to online platforms, social media, print and
digital media, and publications and broadcasts, including on TCOE’s internet
website or internal intranet. This may also include information about the Student,
including but not limited to Student’s image, words, name, age, school of
attendance and/or grade level.
- RIGHTS: Student, Parent, and TCOE acknowledge that, unless otherwise
provided by a separate agreement, all rights in the Student Works of Student,
including any original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of
expression, conceived or first reduced to practice by Student shall be owned by
Student. Outside of the use of such Student Works of Student by the TCOE
pursuant to this Agreement, Student retains the right to use such Student Works in
any manner permitted by law.
- LICENSE: Student and Parent hereby grant TCOE a nonexclusive, perpetual
license to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, or distribute the Student Works
without notice or compensation, both (1) internally for the educational mission of
TCOE, and (2) externally, including online, as part of a TCOE-run, sponsored, or
supported activities. This license shall be revocable by the Student upon thirty
days (30) written notice to TCOE, at the name and address listed below.
- RELEASE: I further waive any right to inspect or approve the Recordings and/or
Student Work of Student prior to TCOE or its designees sharing or publication. I
agree to release TCOE and its designees from any claims, damages, losses, costs,
or liabilities, including reasonable attorney’s fees, that I may ever have in
connection with the taking or use of the Recordings and/or Student Work of
Student, including, but not limited to, any and all claims for copyright
infringement; invasion of privacy; defamation; false light or misappropriation of
name, likeness or image.
(News Media Release - Consent and Authorization [Consent 2])
My signature below indicates that Student and Parent have read and understand this form and voluntarily authorize and give consent for:
- The news media to make Recordings that include Student.
- The news media to use Student’s likeness and image.
- The news media to use, publish, and/or share the Recordings of Student
with public and private entities/individuals through a variety of mediums,
including but not limited to online platforms, social media, print and
digital media and publications and broadcasts, including its website.
If you do not return the completed form, we will assume that you do not consent to TCOE,
publishing or sharing Recordings of your Student or Student Works or to the news media
creating Recordings of Student as described above.
My signature below indicates that I have read and understand this Media Release – Consent and Authorization form and that I voluntarily authorize the consents stated above.
This Agreement is effective upon the latest date of signature.
A parent or legal guardian signature is also required for students younger than 18 years of
age.
